How many appointments does root canal therapy take?

Most root canals are completed in a single 1–2 hour appointment. Complex molars with curved canals may require 2 appointments. We can often complete the root canal and crown preparation in the same day.

What happens if I don't get a root canal?

An untreated infected tooth will not heal on its own. The infection will spread to the surrounding bone and potentially to other teeth. In severe cases, dental infections can spread to the jaw, neck, or even become life-threatening. Extraction is the only alternative to root canal treatment.

Can I eat normally after a root canal?

Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until the permanent crown is placed. You can eat soft foods on the other side immediately after treatment. Most patients return to normal activities the same day or the next day.
